urbanherbalist.org:: a book/author oriented site with ecart interactivity.

task

Developing a web site for promoting a book/author comes with it's own set of challenges. Taking into consideration the intended audience is a major point to keep in mind throughout the process.

development

The viewer is greeted by two different accordion menus, a vertical and horizontal one. Both represent various sections of content to navigate through. One menu is purely visual while the other offers more textual content to direct the user where they may want to go.
photo.sanjinalisic.com:: create a photo portfolio to be a separate entity from design

task

This was a personal project where I wanted to create a way to display my photography work without interfering with my design work or having visitors be overwhelmed with styles and information.

development

The main focus was of course, the photograph. The backgrounds are made to change randomly on each visit and take up most of the visible space of the window. The navigation is neatly tucked to one side and remains constant. The home page also displays the latest blog post. This is the easiest way to show updates without interfering with the design and aesthetics of the page.
purelypsychics.com:: create a site to integrate a phone system and custom billing email system

task

To develop a portal of psychic readers, easily navigable by users of any age with the simplest payment system integration possible. Integrate a phone payment system with availability notices, payment and email system without having to leave the site to complete any part of the transaction.

development

The navigation of the readers is the main focus of the site, therefore it is the first thing visible along with the logo representation and a short guide. The readers are made to appear in a lightbox style popup, to avoid navigating away from the main list of various readers while the user reads about each one. Each readers page also displays two forms of contact, a phone system and an email system. The email system uses a custom integration of a payment system to provide the user the easiest way to reach their reader. Once payment is successful, the user is redirected to a mailing page within the same lightbox window to ask their questions.
citymusicstl.com:: creating a web presence for a music store that offers everything from rentals to group and individual workshops

task

I was contacted to create a web site for a music store that is so much more than a music store. With a focus on children and learning, City Music is a unique place that offers anything you can imagine that is music related. Trying to incorporate so many things into a visually appealing and easily navigable site was the challenge.

development

The first phase of production consisted of developing a shell in which all the information could be uniformly organized and added at any time. Putting on display the location and its features was the primary focus. The next phase was to incorporate the many lesson programs offered. As the program became more robust, so did the organization of the site itself, with more categories and pages added to accomodate for the ever increasing number of instructors and group lessons. An events section came next. Layout and structure is identical to the lessons and instructors. With such an intuitive interface, it only makes sense to keep each section looking the same.
concert posters/event flyers:: promotinal flyers for djs/clubs/events

task

The task with any promotional item is to portray the event/group in their correct image that will appeal to their target audience. Creating an attractive layout is the simple part, matching the layout with their character is the creative part.

development

Each promotional design always begins with the final goal and works itself backwards through execution and trial and error. Theres always a bit of guessing when working with a new group/artist/dj etc. That first round is where I find out the most about a person.
three d modeling and rendering:: conceptual models

task

This is usually where the real creative fun happens. It is the phase of planning where any idea can become a reality, regardless of how bizarre it may be, for instance a lobster shaped food truck. It is also where people can see their ideas in action, such as the assembly and operation of the shipping container cafe.

development

Each model starts with a sketch. That sketch can come in the form of a crayon and napkin or a true blueprint. The ideas pictured here all came from the old noggin! Utilizing software such as Maya and 3D Studio Max, I can create just about any model that can be used for fabrication and production. The Vicotria's Secret carts were produced to look identical to the rendering, using Plywood and Carriage Wheels.
business cards:: various business card designs

task

The all mighty business card. The first piece of graphical representation of yourself most people see. There is a certain power that is contained within a well designed business card. It can promote confidence and overall well being. In size, it is the smallest form of representation you have, but in theory it is likely to be the biggest piece of marketing material in your pocket.

development

If there is no designated logo, that is the first step to designing a successful business card. Once a logo is established, you have about 80% of that oh so precious real estate left. Trying to portray an image and describe your services in that much space is no easy task. That is why the business card ties in so much with the logo and overall identity of your business. They all need to support each other. Luckily you are given the gift of two sides. Looking at the samples on the left, you can see a similar structure to each. A large visula portrayal on one side, and minimal text on the opposite side that has to be just right to get your point across.
